Indian MMA fighter Suchika Tariyal won a historic bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games after her women’s traditional 60kg semifinal against Singapore’s Hui Hoon Teo ended in a draw. Following an Indian challenge and review, the bout remained tied, triggering a weight-based tiebreaker. Teo was around 700 grams lighter in the morning weigh-in and advanced to the final, while Suchika secured India’s first-ever Asian Games MMA medal.

India added four medals on Day 3 of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, taking its overall tally to four silver and two bronze medals. Shooting produced three medals, while Suchika Tariyal created history by winning India’s first Asian Games medal in mixed martial arts. India also recorded strong wins in women’s hockey and kabaddi.

India will face Japan in a historic T20 International in Sano on September 22. The match is part of celebrations marking 75 years of India-Japan diplomatic relations and will be a significant moment for cricket in Japan.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won their maiden Caribbean Premier League title after defeating Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the 2026 final. The match saw several outstanding performances from Pakistan players, with Maaz Sadaqat scoring a century, Sufiyan Muqeem taking four wickets and Shadab Khan being named Player of the Tournament.

The historic India vs Japan men's T20I is facing a weather-related challenge as Typhoon Dujuan brings heavy rain and strong winds to parts of eastern Japan. The one-off match is scheduled for September 22 at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi. India's training session on Monday was cancelled because of the weather, while Japan's previous T20I at the same venue was abandoned without a toss due to wet conditions. Forecasts suggest an improvement by Tuesday morning, although afternoon showers could still interrupt the match.

Star India batter Smriti Mandhana on Tuesday said that the team will need to continue doing well in the next two years to win a gold in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as the tournament there will be much tougher than the Asian Games.
