A deeply emotional moment has emerged from Nepal’s flood-hit Rasuwa district.Amid devastating floods, heavy debris and extremely difficult rescue conditions, security personnel managed to save a baby barely 45 days old.
The infant was safely rescued from the flood-affected area and taken to the Dhange Camp. The rescue has emerged as a powerful symbol of hope and humanity amid one of Nepal’s worst disasters.
Meanwhile, the scale of the devastation continues to grow. The death toll from the sudden floods has reportedly climbed to 987 as of Tuesday, September 1, while around 3,916 people remain missing, including 583 foreign nationals.
Nepal Army and other security forces have intensified search-and-rescue operations across the affected areas.
The floods have destroyed roads, bridges, homes and several settlements, while major damage has also been reported to hydropower projects.
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has issued a detailed procedure for identifying and repatriating the bodies of Indian and other foreign nationals killed in the disaster.
The process includes post-mortem examinations, fingerprint collection, DNA and forensic sampling, verification of passports and identity documents, and formal identification.
In cases where bodies cannot be identified, authorities will use DNA matching with immediate family members, including parents, siblings or children.
