Frisco voters have elected former Frisco ISD trustee Mark Hill as the city's next mayor in a historic runoff election. Hill defeated retired businessman Rod Vilhauer and will officially take office on July 7.

More than 33,000 voters cast their ballots, setting a new turnout record for a municipal election in Frisco. The race attracted over one million dollars in campaign spending and became one of the most closely watched local elections in Texas.

Speaking after his victory, Hill said the key to winning was meeting people from every part of the community. He thanked Hindu, Muslim, Hispanic, and Asian residents for their support and emphasized a message of unity and inclusion.

Hill succeeds outgoing mayor Jeff Cheney, who is leaving office due to term limits. As Frisco continues its rapid growth and demographic transformation, residents will be watching closely to see how the new mayor leads the city into its next chapter.
