A growing number of Indian students pursuing higher education in the United States are rethinking their long-term career plans. According to a recent study, stricter US visa and employment regulations have encouraged many students to consider returning to India instead of seeking permanent careers abroad.
A survey conducted by Oxford International found that 81% of Indian students plan to return to India after completing their education overseas. The report cited tighter visa rules, uncertainty surrounding work permits, and changing immigration policies as the primary reasons behind this shift.
The study also noted that employment opportunities in the US have become increasingly competitive, making it more difficult for international graduates to secure long-term jobs. At the same time, India's expanding technology sector, growing startup ecosystem, and improving career prospects are attracting more young professionals back to the country.
Experts say that while interest in studying abroad remains strong, attitudes toward settling overseas are changing. Better salaries, expanding industries, and increased employment opportunities in India are encouraging students to build their careers in their home country.
