Visakhapatnam is poised to further strengthen its position as one of India's emerging data centre hubs, with proposals for three new data centres involving investments of nearly ₹1.75 lakh crore. The proposals were presented during the recent meeting of the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
According to the proposals, Data Centre Holdings India plans to invest ₹58,743 crore in a large-scale data centre project expected to generate around 1,250 jobs. ReNew has proposed investing ₹85,200 crore to establish a green data centre in Anakapalli district, creating nearly 1,000 employment opportunities. Meanwhile, AM Intelligence Labs has submitted a proposal to invest ₹31,387 crore in an AI-powered data infrastructure project that is expected to create another 1,000 jobs.
In addition to these projects, Akshith GreenTech has proposed setting up a 3.5 GW solar cell manufacturing unit with an investment of ₹1,600 crore at Parawada, which is expected to generate 725 jobs. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has been entrusted with identifying suitable land for the proposed projects.
With global technology companies and major investors already announcing large-scale digital infrastructure projects in the Visakhapatnam region, the latest proposals are expected to accelerate the city's transformation into a leading destination for AI, cloud computing, and hyperscale data centres in India.
