Chennai-based deep-tech startup The ePlane Company has announced the completion of the full-scale assembly of its electric air taxi, the e200X, marking a significant milestone in India's advanced air mobility sector.
According to the company, the e200X has been developed by integrating the aircraft's key subsystems into a unified structure. With the assembly phase now complete, the aircraft is set to enter comprehensive ground testing, where engineers will evaluate onboard systems and structural performance using specialized testing equipment.
The testing phase will focus on validating the aircraft's aerodynamic characteristics, mechanical load-bearing capabilities, and overall system reliability under various operating conditions. These assessments are considered critical before the aircraft can progress to flight testing and certification stages.
Following successful ground evaluations, the company will seek Type Certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a mandatory requirement for commercial deployment.
The ePlane Company stated that it had earlier completed its initial prototype, PT-01, and has now advanced the e200X from the design and simulation stage to real-world physical testing. The development marks a major step toward bringing electric air taxi services to India and accelerating innovation in sustainable urban air transportation.
