India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, welcomed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a major positive step for global energy security and international trade.
Speaking at the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers' Meeting in New Delhi, Doval said uninterrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea is crucial for global economic growth, stable energy supplies, and smooth international commerce.
He noted that India views the development with cautious optimism and hopes it will help restore peace and stability in West Asia while reducing disruptions in global supply chains.
Doval also highlighted growing global security challenges, urging BRICS nations to strengthen cooperation in tackling terrorism, regional conflicts, and emerging threats.
The two-day BRICS security meeting focused on terrorism, regional stability, and evolving global security concerns. Doval expressed confidence that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz will support secure energy flows, strengthen global markets, and contribute to lasting peace in the region.
