India has emerged as the world’s fifth most digitalised economy and secured the fourth position globally in Artificial Intelligence or AI performance, according to a report released by the ICRIER-Prosus Centre for Internet and Digital Economy.
The report said India has overtaken countries like Germany, France, Japan, the UK and Canada in the AI race. Nearly 72 percent of global AI users are now from developing countries, with India and China together accounting for almost two-fifths of worldwide AI adoption.
India also generated 328 billion dollars in digitally delivered trade and is home to the world’s second-largest AI talent pool. Experts say India’s rise to fourth place in the global AI index, behind only the United States, China and Singapore, highlights the country’s growing digital strength and global influence in technology.
