Meerut, June 8: In a swift and life-saving response, Uttar Pradesh Police rescued a 25-year-old man who was reportedly attempting to take his own life after receiving an urgent suicide alert from Meta linked to an Instagram post.

According to officials, the alert was generated under a coordination system between Meta and UP Police, which identifies and flags social media posts indicating possible self-harm and immediately shares them with law enforcement agencies.

Acting on the alert, Meerut Police traced the individual and reached him within just eight minutes. He was found in a distressed condition and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care.

Authorities said the rapid response was possible due to the real-time monitoring and alert system that connects social media platforms with police units for emergency intervention.

Officials praised the coordinated mechanism, stating that timely digital alerts can play a crucial role in preventing suicides and saving lives.
