Retired Air Chief Marshal Jitendra Singh has shared interesting details about Operation Sindoor, highlighting the crucial role played by India’s S-400 air defence system. Describing the system as a “Sudarshan Chakra,” he said Pakistan was deeply concerned about the S-400 and made several attempts to locate its position.
According to Singh, Pakistan used every available means to track the S-400, including attempts to use satellites belonging to other countries. He said Pakistan eventually activated intelligence sleeper cells in India in an effort to identify the location of the air defence system.
Recalling the situation during the operation, Singh said Indian forces were prepared to engage Pakistani aircraft with the S-400 whenever they entered Indian airspace.
The Russian-made S-400 has become a key component of India’s air defence network. Equipped with advanced radar capabilities, the system can detect and engage enemy aircraft and other aerial targets from long distances.
India signed an agreement with Russia in 2018 to procure five S-400 systems. Three systems have already been inducted into the Indian Air Force, while the fourth reportedly arrived in India in June this year.
