The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is preparing to issue court summons to Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in connection with the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack case.
Since Saeed is currently in Pakistan, the summons are expected to be sent through diplomatic channels via the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The move comes as part of the legal proceedings in the case.
Saeed has been named as an accused in the conspiracy related to the Pahalgam attack. A special NIA court in Jammu has also taken legal action against him as part of the ongoing proceedings.
The court summons are intended to formally require Saeed to appear before the court in connection with the case. As he is based in Pakistan, Indian authorities are using diplomatic channels to communicate the court's directions.
The NIA's investigation has alleged Saeed's involvement in the conspiracy behind the terror attack. The latest legal step is part of the agency's efforts to proceed against all accused persons linked to the case.
With Saeed unlikely to appear before the Indian court voluntarily, further legal steps could be considered if he continues to remain absent. The proceedings will continue in accordance with Indian law.
