The southwest monsoon officially entered Karnataka on June 4, 2026, bringing the season’s first widespread rains to parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department, rainfall was recorded in areas including Mangaluru and Mysuru, marking the monsoon’s arrival.
The IMD has issued a weather warning, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Coastal Karnataka from June 4 to June 10. Interior Karnataka is also expected to receive significant rainfall during the same period. Weather officials say conditions remain highly favorable for the monsoon to advance further into more parts of the state over the next few days.
While temperatures are expected to remain stable, the IMD predicts below-normal seasonal rainfall across most of Karnataka this year, with some northeastern and southeastern regions likely to receive normal to above-normal rainfall.
