In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Excise officials arrested two youths in Taliparamba on Thursday after recovering 66.22 grams of MDMA from their possession.
According to the Excise Department, the accused have been identified as C. Abdushafthah from Nattuvayal, Taliparamba, and M. P. Nihal from Chorukkala. Officials said the duo were allegedly involved in bringing MDMA from outside Kerala, including Bengaluru and Mangaluru, and distributing it locally through a retail network.
The investigation revealed that the accused initially worked as intermediaries but later evolved into wholesale suppliers within the district’s drug distribution chain, targeting youth, women, and students.
The arrests were made by a night patrol team led by Taliparamba Excise Range Inspector J. Joseph. Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to trace the wider supply chain and identify other members of the network.
