As N. Chandrasekaran prepares to step down as Chairman of Tata Sons at the end of his term in February 2027, attention has shifted to who could lead India's largest business conglomerate next. Tata Trusts has already initiated the process of forming a selection committee to identify the next chairman.

Among the prominent names being discussed is T. V. Narendran, the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Steel, who is widely regarded as a strong internal candidate because of his long leadership experience within the Tata Group. Saurabh Agrawal, Executive Director and Group Chief Financial Officer of Tata Sons, is also being viewed as a potential contender due to his financial expertise and strategic role within the conglomerate.

Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts, has emerged as a key figure in the succession process. While he is expected to play a decisive role in selecting the next chairman, reports indicate his own appointment as Tata Sons Chairman remains uncertain, with his focus largely on guiding the transition and the group's long-term strategy.

The final decision will be made by the Tata Sons board after recommendations from the selection panel. Industry experts believe the group is likely to choose an experienced internal leader to ensure continuity and stability across its businesses.
