The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA NY-NJ-CT-NE), in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in New York and corporate partner Zoho Corporation, has achieved a new Guinness World Records title for the โLargest Flagpole Number.โ
The record-breaking event was held on August 15 at Veterans Memorial Park in Parsippany, New Jersey, bringing together community leaders, elected officials, volunteers and members of the Indian-American community.
1,383 Flags Create Giant โ250โ
The centerpiece of the event was a spectacular installation featuring 1,383 US flags mounted on flagpoles and arranged to form the number โ250.โ
The display was surrounded by Indian tricolour flags and was designed to celebrate two significant milestones โ India@80 and the upcoming America@250 celebrations.
Following an on-site verification process, a Guinness World Records adjudicator officially confirmed the achievement and presented the framed certificate to FIA leaders and dignitaries.
FIA Chairman Celebrates Community Achievement
FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya described the achievement as a reflection of the communityโs dedication, unity and pride in its heritage.
He said the record demonstrated what the Indian-American community can accomplish when people come together around a shared vision.
Symbol of India-US Friendship
Ambassador Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York, described the milestone as a celebration of the enduring friendship between India and the United States.
He also highlighted the important role played by the Indian-American diaspora in strengthening connections between the two democracies.
Leaders Highlight Civic Participation
Parsippany Mayor Pulkit Desai highlighted the shared democratic values of India and the United States, while New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Dr. Dale G. Caldwell praised the volunteers whose efforts made the large-scale installation possible.
Caldwell also encouraged members of the community to continue participating in volunteer and cultural initiatives.
Record Belongs to the Community
FIA President Sreekant Akkapalli credited the volunteers, partners and supporters who worked behind the scenes to organize the record-setting event.
He described the massive flag display as a symbol of collective strength, patriotism and global unity.
FIA President Sreekant Akkapalli and Zoho Corporation USA Head Raju Vegesna also joined guest speaker US Congresswoman Analilia Mejia on stage during the event.
Speakers recognized the growing contributions of Indian-Americans in technology, public service, business and local communities.

Immediate Past President Saurin Parikh said the achievement reflected years of teamwork, organizational continuity and community-building efforts.
FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya also noted that the organization has pursued several Guinness World Records attempts over the years, describing the latest achievement as a particularly rewarding milestone because it brought the community together.
Cultural Celebrations Conclude Event
The event concluded with cultural performances and a public viewing of the Guinness World Record installation, allowing attendees to witness the massive flag display celebrating the close relationship between the Indian-American community and both nations.
