Telugu literature enthusiasts in Tucson are set to witness a unique literary event as an Ashtavadhanam will be presented by renowned scholar and Avadhani Brahmasri Vaddepalli Padmakar.
Organized by the Telugu Association of Tucson, Arizona (TATA), the event will showcase the rich literary traditions of the Telugu language through an extraordinary display of memory, scholarship, creativity, concentration and wit.
Ashtavadhanam is a challenging Telugu literary tradition in which the Avadhani responds spontaneously to questions and literary challenges posed simultaneously by eight Prucchakas, without relying on pen or paper. The performance demands exceptional memory, deep literary knowledge, presence of mind and creativity.
Brahmasri Vaddepalli Padmakar is known for his remarkable achievements, having performed more than 1,260 Ashtavadhanams and over 28 Shatavadhanams.
The special literary event will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at Iris Cantor Building – Room 160 MPR, University of Arizona Health Sciences Campus, 1502 E. Mabel St., Tucson, Arizona.
