West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya acknowledged that the state's long-standing extortion culture has not yet been fully eradicated. He said it would be unrealistic to claim that the problem had disappeared completely, as the BJP government has been in power for only two months.
Bhattacharya stressed that restoring investor confidence and creating a business-friendly ecosystem are among the government's top priorities. He said industries should be allowed to operate without political interference and that businesses must feel secure while investing in the state.
He also announced that the government would hold extensive consultations with industrialists, business leaders, and other stakeholders before introducing a new industrial policy. According to him, the objective is to develop a transparent policy framework that encourages investment, generates employment, and strengthens West Bengal's economy.
Addressing party workers, Bhattacharya urged BJP leaders and supporters to remain humble and maintain discipline while interacting with the public. He cautioned against aggressive actions, including throwing eggs at political opponents, saying such incidents could damage the party's image and undermine its credibility.
He reiterated that law and order, transparent governance, and a stable business environment are essential for attracting investments. The government, he said, is focused on promoting industrial growth, creating job opportunities, and positioning West Bengal as a preferred destination for businesses.
