Former Australian cricketer Marcus North has been appointed as the new national selector for England Men’s cricket team, replacing Luke Wright, who stepped down after the T20 World Cup earlier this year. North, currently serving as Durham’s director of cricket, will now oversee player selections for England’s red-ball and white-ball teams along with domestic talent scouting.

North played 21 Tests for Australia and scored two Ashes centuries in 2009. Reacting to his appointment, he said it was a huge honour and expressed excitement about shaping the future of England cricket. England managing director Rob Key said North’s deep understanding of county cricket and international experience made him the ideal choice for the role.
