San Francisco: Apple is expanding its App Store subscription model with a new feature that allows developers to create “streaming-style” bundled subscriptions, enabling multiple apps to be packaged together at a discounted price, according to a report by TechCrunch.
The new system builds on Apple’s existing App Bundles feature, which previously allowed only a single developer to group their own apps together. With this expansion, Apple will now permit different developers to collaborate and offer cross-app subscription bundles, similar to how streaming platforms combine content offerings into a single subscription plan.
Under the new model, users could subscribe to a bundle that includes apps from different developers at a lower combined cost than subscribing to each app individually. Apple says this approach is designed to increase value for users while helping developers reach new audiences through partnerships.
The company is also introducing the concept of “Suites,” subscription packages that may not be available as standalone purchases but are instead offered exclusively as part of bundled plans.
The move mirrors the strategy used in the streaming industry, where services such as video and music platforms package content to improve retention and reduce subscription fatigue. Apple’s approach could encourage developers in related categories—such as productivity, creativity, and publishing—to collaborate on joint offerings.
The update was announced during Apple’s WWDC 2026 event and is expected to roll out through the App Store in a future software update.
