Meta-owned social media platform Threads has crossed 500 million monthly active users, marking a major milestone nearly three years after its launch as a rival to X (formerly Twitter).

Alongside the growth announcement, Threads introduced a new feature called "Your Algo", allowing users to customize their feeds by choosing which topics they want to see more or less of. Users can set preferences for one, three, or seven days, giving them greater control over their content experience.

Threads is also expanding its Communities feature, making it easier for users to discover and join groups focused on topics such as sports, entertainment, books, and technology. In addition, the platform is rolling out Live Chats to more communities, enabling real-time discussions during major events.

The latest updates strengthen Threads' position against X by offering new personalization tools and community-focused features. Meta revealed that the platform added 100 million monthly users in the past 10 months alone, highlighting its rapid growth in the social media space.
