A hike of ₹3 per litre in petrol and diesel prices has turned into a major revenue boost for the Telangana government. Due to high VAT rates on fuel, the state is expected to earn nearly ₹45 crore extra every month, adding up to around ₹540 crore annually.

Telangana currently imposes 35.2 percent VAT on petrol and 27 percent on diesel — among the highest in the country. Following the latest price revision, Hyderabad has become the costliest metro city in India for fuel.

Petrol in Hyderabad now costs ₹110.78 per litre, while diesel is priced at ₹98.90. Petrol prices increased by ₹3.39 and diesel by ₹3.26 per litre.

Compared to other metro cities, Delhi petrol is priced at ₹97.77, Mumbai at ₹106.68, Kolkata at ₹108.74, and Chennai at ₹103.67 per litre.
