With the monsoon season underway, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has identified more than 400 dilapidated and unsafe buildings across the city. Officials reported that 377 structures have been declared structurally unfit, with many located in Rajendranagar, Chandrayangutta, Attapur, and Jangammet areas.

Authorities also flagged unsafe educational institutions, including Aliya Government Junior College in Gunfoundry. Despite a ban on cellar excavations during the monsoon, illegal construction activities continue in several areas, causing safety concerns and even the collapse of a retaining wall in Musheerabad.

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has directed officials to halt illegal excavation works, revoke permissions, and file criminal cases against violators. The disaster management agency HYDRAA has urged citizens to report dangerous structures. A dedicated helpline, 9000113667, has been issued for public complaints.
