Bandi Bhagirath, son of Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has requested a 48-hour extension from the Petbasheerabad Police after failing to appear for questioning on Wednesday in connection with an ongoing POCSO case.
According to police sources, Bhagirath had been summoned to appear before investigating officers to record his statement as part of the inquiry. However, he did not attend the questioning within the stipulated time.
Following his absence, Bhagirath reportedly sent an email to the police citing “unforeseen personal reasons” for not appearing before the investigators. In the communication, he stated that he was willing to cooperate fully with the investigation but requested two additional days to gather material and evidence related to his defence. He also appealed to the authorities to provide an alternative date for his appearance.
Officials are yet to clarify whether the request for additional time will be accepted or if fresh summons will be issued with a new appearance date.
