Traffic police in Vijayawada are preparing to take stricter action against motorists violating one-way traffic rules. Officials say violations are increasing rapidly in busy areas like Benz Circle, Bandar Road, Eluru Road, Governorpet, Railway Station surroundings, and Kanaka Durga flyover routes.
Until now, police were mostly imposing fines, but repeated offenders may soon face vehicle seizure. Authorities say many drivers continue to take wrong routes claiming U-turns are too far away, creating serious risks for oncoming traffic. Using CCTV surveillance across the city, traffic police are identifying violators and planning special enforcement drives. Police warn that wrong-route driving is not only causing traffic congestion but also leading to dangerous road accidents.
