Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is facing fresh scrutiny following the release of the BBC documentary "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret." The documentary features interviews with 10 women, nine of whom said they were speaking publicly for the first time about their alleged experiences involving the actor.
According to the documentary, four women have made allegations that could amount to criminal sexual offences. The reported incidents allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2016, when Leto was in his 30s and 40s. The allegations include claims of sexual assault, statutory rape, grooming, sexually explicit communications, and threats of sexual violence. Several of the women said they were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents.
The BBC stated that it reviewed supporting material, including witness accounts, messages, photographs, and other records while investigating the allegations. However, the accusations have not been proven in court, and independent media organizations have noted they have not been able to independently verify every claim.
Responding to the documentary, Jared Leto issued a firm denial through his representatives, stating that he has "never sexually assaulted anyone" and describing all the allegations as "absolutely and categorically false." He has consistently denied similar accusations that surfaced in previous reports as well.
