Ugadi celebrations organized by the Hindu Temple Society in Allentown were held in a grand and devotional atmosphere. A large number of Telugu people living locally attended the event, bringing great enthusiasm to the festivities. More than 400 Telugu participants took part in the program.
The event began with special puja rituals conducted by priest Anand Ji, accompanied by Vedic chants. The celebrations were formally inaugurated with a Ganapati stotram, and the venue was beautifully decorated with traditional elements.
Cultural performances, including Telugu folk songs and dances set to modern music, entertained the audience. A women’s fashion show stood out as a special highlight, where 35 participants showcased both traditional and contemporary attire.
The program also featured Panchangam reading and recitation of Telugu poetry, adding cultural richness to the event.
Organizers stated that the Ugadi celebrations were conducted with the aim of raising funds for the expansion of the Hindu Temple. Many Telugu families and sponsors came forward generously to contribute donations.
For the first time, indoor and outdoor games were arranged for both men and women. Winners of various competitions were honored with trophies.
Organizers Dr. Chatterjee Kaza, Venkat Veerashetty, Madhuri Gummadi, and Kamaraju Ramoju appreciated the efforts of all teams involved, including stage decoration, finance, brochure printing, food committee, sports committee, and fundraising committee.
Overall, the Ugadi celebrations beautifully reflected Telugu culture and traditions on foreign soil, leaving a memorable experience for everyone who attended.
