Nepal is facing a serious flood situation after flash floods in Rasuwa district caused widespread destruction, damaging homes, roads, bridges, vehicles and other infrastructure.
According to reports, nearly 400 people have been reported missing, including 105 Indians and 37 non-resident Indians (NRIs). Authorities, however, have cautioned that being listed as missing does not necessarily mean that the individuals have been swept away, as communication and transportation links have been disrupted.
Indians Among Those Missing
Several Indians reported missing are believed to include people travelling through Nepal, including those heading towards the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage route.
The flood-hit areas have become difficult to access, with damaged roads and communication networks making it challenging for authorities to establish contact with people in the region.
Rescue Operations Underway
The Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have stepped up rescue and search operations in the affected areas.
Helicopters and drones are being used to locate missing people and assess the extent of the damage. Rescue teams are also facing difficulties because of mud, debris and damaged infrastructure.

Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on Alert
With rivers originating in Nepal flowing into northern India, authorities in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are closely monitoring the situation.
Officials are particularly watching water levels in rivers and low-lying areas, while residents living near riverbanks have been advised to remain alert and follow instructions from local authorities.
Fresh Flood Threat
Authorities have warned of the possibility of further flooding if water levels rise in the upper reaches. Rescue and relief agencies are continuing to monitor the situation and prepare for possible additional flooding in downstream areas.
India Offers Assistance
The Indian government has expressed concern over the situation in Nepal and conveyed its willingness to provide humanitarian and relief assistance as required.
Indian authorities are also coordinating efforts to obtain information about citizens who may be stranded or unaccounted for.
