US President Donald Trump announced that he would hold a key meeting in the White House Situation Room to make a final decision on a possible peace deal with Iran. Trump said Iran must immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz, allow unrestricted shipping, and guarantee that it will never develop nuclear weapons. He also claimed the US would lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports, though it remains unclear whether Iran has officially agreed to the conditions.
Trump stated that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles would be destroyed in coordination with the United States and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Iranian sources, however, described Trump’s statements as a “mixture of truth and lies.” Meanwhile, US officials said negotiators had reached a proposal to extend the Middle East ceasefire by 60 days, but Trump has not yet approved the agreement.
