A Hyderabad woman who travelled to Nepal as part of a Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage has reportedly gone missing following the devastating floods in the Himalayan region.
The missing woman has been identified as Suhasini Reddy, a resident of LB Nagar's Vastunagar area in Hyderabad. She is reportedly a software engineer working in Australia.
Suhasini Had Travelled for Kailash Yatra
According to her family, Suhasini came to Hyderabad recently to attend a housewarming ceremony. After the event, she travelled to Nepal to undertake the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
She reportedly travelled from Hyderabad to Delhi and then reached Kathmandu. While in Kathmandu, she also met a friend who lives in Australia.
Last Contact With Family
Suhasini was reportedly in contact with her family while travelling from Kathmandu towards the Mansarovar region.
Her brother said that she had informed the family that she was travelling towards the pilgrimage route. However, communication with her was subsequently lost.
The family is now waiting anxiously for information about her safety and whereabouts.
Devastating Floods Hit Nepal
Heavy floods and debris flows struck parts of Nepal, particularly the Rasuwa region near the Nepal-Tibet border.
The disaster damaged roads, bridges and buildings, while several travellers and pilgrims were left stranded or reported missing.
The affected region is an important route for people travelling towards the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage.
Indian Nationals Among Those Missing
Several Indian nationals have reportedly been affected by the disaster. Indian authorities are coordinating with the Nepalese government and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to locate missing citizens and assist those stranded in the affected areas.
Rescue and evacuation operations are continuing as authorities search for people who remain unaccounted for.
Family Seeks Government Assistance
Suhasini's family has appealed to the Indian authorities for help in locating her and confirming whether she is safe.
The Telangana government has also been coordinating relief and assistance efforts for people from the state who may have been stranded in Nepal.
