Screenings of Tamil star Vijay's latest film 'Jana Nayagan' faced temporary interruptions at several multiplexes in Chennai after minors were found watching the movie despite its A (Adults Only) certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
According to reports, theatre staff stopped the screenings and requested parents who had brought children into the auditorium to leave the premises. The shows resumed only after the minors exited, resulting in delays and inconvenience for other moviegoers. Similar incidents were reported at multiple theatres across the city.
Under CBFC guidelines, films certified 'A' are legally restricted to audiences aged 18 years and above, and minors are not permitted to watch them in theatres even if accompanied by parents. Multiplex chains in Chennai reportedly enforced these rules strictly, leading to the disruptions.
The incidents have triggered discussions on social media regarding parental responsibility, theatre management, and the importance of complying with film certification regulations. While many supported the strict implementation of the rules, others questioned how minors were allowed to enter the auditoriums in the first place.
