The Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) has strongly opposed a memorandum issued to 34 faculty members of the University's Faculty of Technology, urging the university administration to withdraw it without delay. The association described the memorandum as coercive and argued that it places unnecessary pressure on teachers.
According to DUTA, the memorandum was issued soon after the commencement of the new academic session and has created anxiety among faculty members. The association maintained that teachers should be encouraged to focus on academic responsibilities rather than face administrative actions that could negatively affect the teaching environment.
The teachers' body also emphasized that universities should promote open academic dialogue, institutional autonomy, and professional respect. It warned that actions perceived as punitive could weaken faculty morale and disrupt the healthy functioning of educational institutions.
DUTA has urged the Delhi University administration to revoke the memorandum and engage in constructive discussions with faculty members to resolve any concerns. The association reiterated its commitment to protecting teachers' rights while ensuring that academic standards and the interests of students remain a priority.
