Amid growing protests by job aspirants over alleged irregularities in recruitment exams, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced a major decision.

The government has decided to cancel the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level, or JSSC-CGL, examination. It has also announced the cancellation of all recruitment exams conducted by outsourcing agency TDPL since 2014, along with their results.

The decision was taken during a lengthy cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Soren also announced the formation of an examination reforms committee headed by senior IPS officer Amitabh Kaushal. The committee will look into measures to improve the recruitment examination system.

Job aspirants have been demanding a CBI probe into alleged irregularities and cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination. Their protest entered its 24th day on Monday.

Meanwhile, six protesters are continuing their hunger strike, intensifying pressure on the Jharkhand government.
