Strengthening domestic manufacturing can help reduce dependence on imports while creating more jobs, attracting investment and boosting exports.
Sitharaman stressed that Indian companies must focus on quality, technology and cost competitiveness to succeed globally. Meeting international standards will be essential as Indian manufacturers seek a larger share of global markets.
She also highlighted the importance of investment, modern technology and stronger supply chains in building India into a global manufacturing hub.
Government reforms, infrastructure development and business-friendly policies are expected to support this expansion, while industries will need to make effective use of these opportunities.
The Finance Minister's message comes as India seeks to increase its role in global supply chains and expand its manufacturing capabilities across sectors.
The focus, she said, should be on producing in India while creating products that can meet the needs of customers around the world.
