New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani joined the India Day Parade in Floral Park, Queens, celebrating Indian Independence Day alongside members of the Indian-American community. The parade was filled with patriotic spirit, enthusiasm and vibrant celebrations.

Sharing his experience on X, Mamdani said that attending the parade as New York Cityโ€™s first Indian-American mayor was an incredible experience that he would never forget.

Recalling former Mayor David Dinkinsโ€™ description of New York as a โ€œgorgeous mosaic,โ€ Mamdani highlighted the contributions of Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs from the Indian diaspora who have helped shape the city. He said it was an honor to work alongside the community and wished everyone a Happy Indian Independence Day.
