India completed a 3-0 series sweep over Afghanistan after securing a 127-run victory in the third and final T20 International at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday.
After being asked to bat first, India posted 221/7 in 20 overs. Afghanistan were then bowled out for 94 in 14.1 overs, giving India a comprehensive victory.
Abhishek Sharma creates history
The highlight of the match was a sensational innings from Abhishek Sharma, who smashed a century in just 30 balls — the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian batter.
Abhishek eventually finished with 108 off 34 balls, including nine fours and 11 sixes. His century was also the third-fastest in men's T20I cricket among batters from Full Member nations.
He reached his fifty in only 16 balls before racing from 50 to 100 in another 14 deliveries. His record-breaking innings ended when Rashid Khan dismissed him for 108.
India race to 100 in six overs
Abhishek and Sanju Samson gave India an explosive start, adding 142 runs for the opening wicket.
India reached 100 without losing a wicket after six overs, with Abhishek contributing the bulk of the early scoring.
Samson continued his impressive form with another half-century, scoring 50. It was his second consecutive fifty in the series.
Afghanistan fight back late
India were 184/3 after 15 overs but Afghanistan's bowlers managed to restrict the scoring during the final five overs. India eventually finished on 221/7.
Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 29, while Shivam Dube contributed 14.
Afghanistan bowled out for 94
Chasing 222, Afghanistan struggled against India's bowling attack and were dismissed for just 94 in 14.1 overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy took 3/25, while Ravi Bishnoi claimed 3/26. Axar Patel added two wickets. Ibrahim Zadran top-scored for Afghanistan with 25.
India complete 3-0 sweep
The victory completed India's 3-0 sweep in the three-match T20I series. India had already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning the first two matches before finishing the series with another dominant performance.
