Kerala witnessed a major cricket buzz on Wednesday as star India batter Virat Kohli arrived in Thiruvananthapuram ahead of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies.
A large number of fans gathered at the airport hoping to catch a glimpse of Kohli. He was escorted by security personnel to the team hotel, where he received a traditional welcome from the hotel staff.
Kohli has returned to India’s ODI squad along with Rohit Sharma. The Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, will face the West Indies in the opening ODI on September 27 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 PM IST.
The return of Kohli and Rohit has added to the excitement surrounding the series. Tickets for the opening ODI at Greenfield were reported to have sold out within 24 hours of sales opening, reflecting strong demand among fans.
The second ODI will be played in Guwahati on September 30, followed by the third ODI in New Chandigarh on October 3. The series is part of India’s preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
