Virat Kohli’s arrival in Kerala has sparked major excitement among cricket fans ahead of India’s upcoming ODI series against the West Indies.
The former India captain landed at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Wednesday and was escorted through the terminal by security personnel before heading to the team hotel. Hotel staff gave Kohli a traditional Kerala welcome.
Kohli’s arrival drew fans to the airport, eager to catch a glimpse of the star batter. The excitement comes as Kohli and Rohit Sharma return to India’s ODI squad for the three-match series.
India, led by Shubman Gill, will face the West Indies in the first ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27. The second ODI will be played in Guwahati on September 30, followed by the third match in New Chandigarh on October 3.
The return of Kohli and Rohit has also driven strong interest in the opening match. More than 35,000 public tickets for the Thiruvananthapuram ODI were reportedly sold within 24 hours of going on sale.
The series forms part of India’s preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Kohli’s experience is expected to be significant as the Indian team continues to build towards the tournament.
The West Indies series will feature three ODIs followed by a five-match T20I series. Kohli and Rohit are part of the ODI squad, while India’s T20I side will have a different combination.
