US President Donald Trump ordered all flags across the United States to be flown at half-staff on May 15 in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
The day honours police and law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Established in 1962 through a law signed by President John F. Kennedy, the observance is part of National Police Week. Memorial events and tribute ceremonies will be held in Washington, DC, to remember fallen officers.
