Former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President P.S. Prasanth has strongly denied any involvement in the alleged Sabarimala gold loss case, rejecting claims that he was part of a conspiracy linked to the handling of temple gold during renovation works.
Prasanth said the allegations against him are unfounded and maintained that he had acted in accordance with established procedures during his tenure. He also indicated that he would challenge any action against him through legal channels if necessary.
The development follows a submission by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) before the Kerala High Court, stating that its investigation had uncovered evidence suggesting the possible involvement of additional individuals, including the former TDB chief. The court has permitted investigators to examine whether a fresh criminal case should be registered or whether the new findings should be incorporated into the ongoing investigation.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in the replating of gold-covered temple structures and guardian deity idols at the Sabarimala temple. Investigators are examining whether procedural violations and misappropriation of gold occurred during renovation work carried out in different phases.
Officials have clarified that the investigation is still in progress and that no final conclusions have been reached regarding the role of any individual. The SIT is expected to continue collecting evidence and seek legal opinion before deciding on further action.
