Tata Steel has transferred its entire stake in Indian Super League (ISL) club Jamshedpur FC to Goa-based Churchill Brothers for a symbolic amount of ₹100. The decision comes two weeks after Tata Steel announced its exit from the ISL.
Under the agreement, Churchill Brothers will acquire Jamshedpur FC's ISL participation licence along with the contracts of 12 players and two coaches. Tata Steel said the arrangement ensures that players and coaching staff can continue their professional football careers without disruption.
Founded in 2017, Jamshedpur FC won the ISL League Winners' Shield in the 2021–22 season and lifted the Super Cup last year. Despite emotional appeals from players and protests by fans urging Tata Steel to continue supporting the club, the company decided to proceed with the sale.
The move also marks Churchill Brothers' return to India's top-tier football after several years. The club, which has won the national league title twice, will now compete in the ISL using Jamshedpur FC's licence.
