Yashoda Hospitals, HITEC City, has reached a significant milestone in renal healthcare by completing more than 400 kidney transplant surgeries since the beginning of its kidney transplant programme.

The hospital announced the achievement during Kidney Symposium 2026, a medical gathering focused on developments in kidney transplantation, post-transplant care, long-term graft health and organ donation awareness. Nephrologists, urologists, transplant specialists and other healthcare professionals participated in the symposium.

Kishan Reddy inaugurates symposium

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the symposium and appreciated the hospital's transplant programme.

He highlighted the role of advanced medical technology, specialist teams and improved treatment methods in providing better outcomes for kidney transplant patients. The hospital's experience with complex cases, including ABO-incompatible kidney transplants and procedures involving elderly patients, was also noted.

The event also placed emphasis on increasing public awareness about organ donation, particularly the importance of deceased-organ donation in helping patients awaiting transplants.

400-plus transplants achieved

Yashoda Hospitals Managing Director Dr G. Surender Rao said crossing the 400-transplant mark was an important achievement for the HITEC City facility.

According to the hospital, the programme's approach combines advanced technology, experienced specialists and coordinated patient care. The transplant team has also handled challenging cases, including patients with incompatible blood groups and elderly recipients.

Transplant care does not end with surgery

Dr Rajasekhara Chakravarthy, Clinical Director of Nephrology at Yashoda Hospitals–HITEC City, stressed that kidney transplantation is not limited to the surgical procedure.

He highlighted the importance of appropriate donor and recipient selection, comprehensive medical evaluation before transplantation, coordination between medical departments, continuous monitoring after surgery and long-term follow-up. Patients also need to remain under regular medical supervision, take prescribed medicines and maintain a healthy lifestyle after transplantation.

The symposium therefore focused not only on surgical advances but also on the long-term management needed to protect transplanted kidneys and improve patients' quality of life.

A milestone in Hyderabad's transplant care

The latest achievement adds to Yashoda Hospitals' broader kidney transplant programme. The hospital's official information says its kidney transplant centres operate at three locations and have collectively conducted more than 1,000 transplants.

The HITEC City centre's 400-plus procedures underline the growing role of specialised transplant programmes in Hyderabad and Telangana.
