The inscription was traced by Deepak Kumar Nayak and Bikram Kumar Nayak of the Rediscover Lost Heritage Trust, which researches and documents Kalinga heritage in South India. The researchers located the stone with the assistance of Lalit Kumar Dev, a member of the Tekkali royal family
