Ambubachi Mela, one of the most significant spiritual festivals in India, is observed every year at the Kamakhya Devi Temple in Guwahati, Assam. During this period, the temple’s inner sanctum remains closed for three days. According to religious beliefs, Goddess Kamakhya undergoes her annual cycle during this time, and the closure symbolizes giving the divine feminine energy a period of rest. After special purification rituals, the temple reopens for devotees.
